As humanity prepares to return to the Moon and expand scientific activity across cislunar space, the importance of responsible, sustainable and inclusive space exploration has never been greater. The ALO team is committed not only to advancing transformative lunar‑based radio astronomy but also to ensuring that this scientific progress aligns with societal values, the long‑term stewardship of the lunar environment, and the ethical use of space.
ALO team coordinator, Marc Klein Wolt, has co‑initiated the “Embassy of the Moon” community, a public‑facing initiative creates a platform for artists, scientists, policymakers, and the broader public to reflect on the meaning of the Moon in society, its cultural significance, its scientific potential, and the responsibilities that come with setting foot permanently on another celestial body.
The first session was organised in collaboration with Tylers Museum, here is a short preview of the event: https://teylersmuseum.nl/nl/ambassade-van-de-maan
Stay tuned for more updates as ALO continues to advance both the scientific and societal dimensions of lunar exploration.
